There are plenty of talks about Manchester City performances so far this season and Westham manager David Moyes also has something to say at this moment.
David Moyes and his West Ham United team are relishing the challenges that are coming their way right now. With seven wins from nine Premier League starts in 2021 behind them, the Hammers head to Manchester City this Saturday in fine form.
The West Ham manager spoke to the media today about the Hammers’ Premier League clash with Manchester City and provided an injury update from his squad as well.
Pep Guardiola guided the Citizens to a 2-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, their 19th victory in a row in all competitions while David Moyes’ side enjoyed a sweet victory against Tottenham Hotspurs last week by defeating them 2 goals to 1.
With regard to the injury situation, Moyes revealed he is likely to be missing a trio of first-team stars during his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“We’ve still got Arthur Masuaku coming back and Andriy Yarmolenko has a medial ligament injury,” he said. “Ryan Fredericks picked up a groin injury which is not serious – it’s touch and go, so we’ll have to see how he is after training today.
“I think everybody knows the quality of Manchester City,” he said. “We’re seeing it week in, week out at the moment – but they’ve got a really difficult schedule because of the amount of games they’ve got.

“We have to try and make the most of having a chance to prepare for the games, be as good as we can be, and go there with a positive mindset. We’ve tried to play well against all the teams and we’ll do the best we can.
“You’re talking about challenging a team in the top three in the world. That’s a big ask for any team. We’ll try and take Man City on in some way and try and cause them difficulties, but you need to be football stupid not to understand the quality they have got and how well they’re playing.
“I think if you want me to shake hands on a clean sheet, I’d be happy to do that. Maybe we might nick a goal as well, but because of their attacking ability that is a really difficult thing to do. If we could get a clean sheet, I’d be more than thrilled with that!
“I think everybody’s sure they’re going to win the league. Pep [Guardiola] is having an outstanding season and is doing an unbelievable job with a team which, last year, didn’t do quite as well as expected.
“He certainly makes you think and gives you problems to solve because of the quality of his players and team. Undoubtedly, he’s a manager who has his own style, improves players and has exciting, good football teams, which is a great credit to him.”
West Ham face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium at 13.30pm on Saturday lunchtime. The match is being broadcast live by BT Sports.
