Manchester City and United Chasing Two Top Defenders from Series A

According to the report, Tuttomercatoweb’s transfer market expert Niccolò Ceccarini said over the weekend that Manchester City and Manchester United are looking at the Peninsula to bolster their defenses as both are interested in Napoli’s star Kalidou Koulibaly, while the Red Devils are also on keen Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic.

The People, who bid 60 million euros in September, have long desired Koulibaly but were rebuffed by Napoli, who called for more than 80 million euros. The journalist suggested that considering the different economic conditions, the idea is unlikely to be that rich again, but its search remains strong.

They would be in pole position if the Partenopei ever decided to sell the 29-year-old Senegalese international, something they have resisted so far.

On the other hand, Milenkovic is decisively more likely to leave since his contract expires in June of 2022, and the negotiation to extend it has progressed very slowly, to the point that a renewal before the summer window is unlikely.

Should that be the case, Viola would put him on the market with a €35/40M price tag. While there are several clubs after him, the player would prefer moving to the Premier League, local newspaper La Nazione reported.
