Manchester City are considering a move for Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez as Pep Guardiola looks to sign another centre back before the transfer window closes but it was reported that Atletico Madrid have rejected huge £92m Jose Gimenez bid from Manchester City.
Although, City have linked with Napoli’s defender Kalidou Koulibaly and their interest in the 29-year-old Senegal international is still all around their book.
Gimenez joined Atletico Madrid in 2013 from Uruguayan club Danubio FC in a move which cost just £810,000.
In June 2018, Jose Gimenez agreed a new five-year contract with the La Liga outfit that will keep him at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2023 as being updated on Bleacherreport.
Athletico Madrid centre-back has become one of Europe’s most highly-rated defenders in recent years after making 191 appearances in all competitions for Atletico Madrid in a seven years spell which has seen him win four major trophies.
The report goes onto claim that Diego Simeone will not allow his main-man to depart the Metropolitano Stadium for a penny less than his eye-watering £110m minimum release clause.
As being reported in Spain on Monday which claimed that City have had a £87million bid rejected by Atletico. But it’s understood that the Premier League former champions have not made an offer for Gimenez or Koulibaly, and would not be prepared to pay that much for 25-year-old Uruguayan let alone the £110m buyout clause in his contract.
