Former Liverpool player Adam Lallana sends message to Man United ahead of Brighton clash

Adam Lallana sends a message to Manchester United as he believes Brighton’s win over Jurgen Klopp’s side earlier this season shows they can beat the division’s ‘so-called’ big side.

Adam Lallana says there is no reason why Brighton cannot take all three points away to Manchester United on Sunday.

Albion head into the clash at Old Trafford off the back of two straight wins, following morale-boosting triumphs over Southampton and Newcastle.

Brighton now sit six points clear of the relegation zone but not many will fancy them to come away with a victory from Manchester as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are second in the league and have not lost in the top flight since late January.

The last time these two teams met it proved to be one of the most dramatic contests of the season, as United came away with a 3-2 win thanks to a 100th minute winner from Bruno Fernandes.

Despite the fact, Brighton could manage to have beaten the Premier League giants three times in 25 matches.

In an interview, Lallana told the club’s website: “I feel that that mentality is changing. When I first came here in the summer, did I believe we could go to a so-called big team in their own backyard? I am not sure,”

“I feel that side of our game, our belief, our mentality is changing. The keyword is changing. It can’t happen overnight.

“There are certain processes that need to happen. It’s hard to explain but people who know football know it doesn’t happen overnight.

“That comes with a consistent level of training, standards, discipline amongst the group and I feel that is coming.

“What a great test our next match is at Old Trafford. There is no reason why we can’t go there and take all three points and get a positive result.”

He later tweeted on Thursday: “Full focus on Sunday!”
